“Roped In”
A Rope Bottoming Intensive Weekend
August 21 - 23, 2026
This is a three day collection of in-depth workshops on the skills, safety, and psychology of being the person in ropes. Unlike classes focusing on tying techniques, this intensive will have a dedicated focus on the role of rope receivers core skill development, physical and emotional management, safety, and active participation in the scene.

Topics for the weekend
Physical Presence and Somatics: Learning how to be present in the body, pain processing, using breathing techniques, and understanding posture to manage the tension and weight of the ropes.
Safety and Limits: Intense focus on anatomy, preventing injuries (such as nerve damage), recognizing risks, and communicating boundaries effectively.
Active Bottoming: Moving away from the idea of the bottom as a "prop" or “model” and fostering the role of the bottom as an active participant who directs their own experience and comfort.
Psychology and "Rope Space": Managing the mental and emotional aspects of being restricted, including navigating "rope space" and providing or receiving emotional aftercare
Communication and Consent: Developing tools for articulating needs before, during, and after a scene, including effective use of safe words and "checking in".
All skill sets are welcome, to sit in, audit, learn, skill share and tie on the ground.

Friday general admission class:
Meet and greet followed by a panel discussion where all of the weekend presenters will share their thoughts and experience on a variety of bottoming related topics.
Class will be followed with an open rope/dungeon play session

Friday Night: Rope Jam with Presenter and attendees
Following the Friday night class, “hang” with our out of town presenters, fellow weekend attendees, community members and the Oblige staff.
Saturday Night: Performance & Play:
Performances featuring some of our weekend presenters followed by one of our BDSM play parties.
Afterwords, A Kinky AF Play Party Until 1:00am
While this weekend is focused on the persons in rope it does not mean we won’t be tying or that the information covered isn’t relevant to rope tops. Bottoms need tops at this intensive just as much as tops would need a bottom for another types of rope bondage related classes.

This is an off-site intensive and as such travel, meals and overnight accommodations are completely in your control
We are located in the Milwaukee Junction District of Detroit just outside of Mid Town and the Wayne State University areas
Oblige is walking distance from Cafes, Bars, Restaurants and a business class hotel
Street parking is limited but we do provide monitored parking throughout our evening events
